Embracing Our Differences Michigan
About
Embracing Our Differences Michigan is a nonprofit organization in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Michigan that uses the power of art and education to expand consciousness and open the heart to celebrate the diversity of the human family.
This year, Embracing Our Differences Michigan partnered with YCS schools' students to create art pieces from all grade levels. From the 51 artworks submitted, three were chosen as Winners and one as the Best in Show. These artwork Winners will have their submissions enlarged and placed on huge banners in Riverside Park in Ypsilanti. The Best in Show winner is "The Big Umbrella" by YIES kindergartner artists and the other winners include YIES 5th grader Tekari G, students from YIES ASD K-1 class, and K-1 students from Perry Early Learning Center. These artwork winners will have their submissions enlarged and placed on huge banners in Gallup Park and Riverside Park in Ypsilanti.
"The YCS Unified Art's partnership with Embracing Our Differences Michigan is an opportunity for our students and teachers to exercise their voice, choice, and agency unapologetically to advocate and serve as co-conspirators for social justice and celebrate our great diversity together,"
-Dr. Carlos Lopez, Assistant Superintendent, Ypsilanti Community Schools.
