Katherine H. Downie was born and raised in southeast Michigan and was encouraged from a young age in her artistic endeavors. She spent much of her childhood and youth with a little sketchbook or a stack of printer (or typewriter) paper sketching and doodling and creating works of art.
Her paintings have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries across the state of Michigan. In addition, her work is in many private and corporate collections. She is the recipient of numerous awards both for artistic and academic achievements.
Since 2017, she has worked as the Restaurant Review Illustrator for the Ann Arbor Observer. Each month Katherine produces a watercolor painting of the restaurant that is being reviewed, or the food at that restaurant. Below is a collection of these paintings.
